Allison Argo and it will be shown at the Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary in

on the planet for more than 360 million years, but suddenly they're slipping
away. One-third of the world’s amphibians are threatened with extinction.
It’s being called the greatest mass extinction since the dinosaurs. From
the jungles of Panama to the Provincelands in Cape Cod National Seashore,
Argo’s film chronicles this disappearance of amphibians—one of the
greatest environmental crises of our time—and citizen and scientist
efforts to stem the tide before the next frog crosses the thin, green line. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

Argo’s film will be followed by a presentation by Brad Timm, a UMASS PhD
candidate studying threatened Eastern spadefoot toads in the Provincelands.
Timm’s research identifies the breeding habitat preferences of these
subterranean toads and his talk will highlight the results of his work and the
natural history of this fascinating species. The loss of amphibians world-wide
has raised much concern but there are things the average person can do to help
local populations and Timm will outline these efforts. <o:p></o:p></span></p>

attend the screening: $6 for Mass Audubon members and $8 for non-members. This
special event is the first in a series of programs focusing on amphibians that
include walks to explore vernal pools and searching for spring peepers. All
programs are organized by Wellfleet Bay Wildlife Sanctuary and require registration.
