<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt"><font size="3"><font face="Times New Roman">The presentation, <b>All Marine Environmental Issues are Local: Cape Cod Coastal Waters in the Context of a Changing Global Sea</b> will feature two guest speakers, PCCS Marine Policy Coordinator, Pat Hughes and Charles “Stormy” Mayo, senior scientist and director of the Center’s Habitat Studies Program.<span> </span></font></font></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3"> </font></p>
<p style="margin:0in 0in 0pt"><font face="Times New Roman" size="3">Ms. Hughes and Dr. Mayo will discuss the issues of the changing environment in the global ocean and the threats that large scale processes, often human-caused, may have on the local marine environment.<span> </span>Focusing on the great variety of marine resources along the coast of Massachusetts, the presentation will include a review of the principal issues related to fisheries resources and endangered marine mammals along with the influences that changing human activities have upon critical components of the marine ecosystem. The presenters will discuss the new ocean management plan being developed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the latest information on marine mammal activity and the results of studies being carried out by PCCS monitoring the chemical and biological conditions of Cape Cod waters.<span> </span>This talk will be heavily illustrated with graphic and photo slides.</font></p>
