<DIV>ANNOUNCEMENT OF PUBLIC MEETING</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>President-elect Barack Obama has requested citizens meetings on a variety
of subjects.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>On Wednesday, January 7, there will be a citizens discussion about "energy,
environment, and poverty" at the Unitarian Universalist church, 840 Sandwich
Road, in East Falmouth. The meeting will begin at 7:00
pm. The building is easily accessible for people with
disabilities.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This is a citizens meeting. The comments received will be
forwarded to the Obama transition team.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Cape Cod has been identified as one of the places where there is grassroots
interest in "energy justice."<BR>The "energy justice" movement gives special
attention to the energy and environmental justice needs of</DIV>
<DIV>low-income people.... An "Energy Justice Forum" took place at Cape
Cod Community College on November 16th. Several "energy justice"
events and exhibits have taken place in Falmouth in recent months.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>"Energy justice" is one response to global warming and other coastal
concerns.... Developing nations are major contributors to the global
warming problem. "Energy justice" advocates ask for national and
international policies that will provide all people, in all places, with
adequate supplies of energy that are safe, affordable, and sustainable....
With this strategy, developing nations can rise above poverty levels, protect
natural areas, and make the transition from dirty fuels to clean energy
technology.</DIV>
