Coastal Studies scientists and naturalists in celebrating Earth Day with a
walk to Race Point light house, tomorrow, Wednesday, April 23 to look for
and watch endangered large whales.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Our aerial survey team recorded nearly 60
right whales in Cape Cod Bay yesterday. As of this morning,
there were several dozen critically endangered north Atlantic right whales,
humpback whales, and finback whales feeding in the waters off Race Point and
Herring Cove, some of them very close to shore. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>Join us to watch these spectacular animals as they
feed on rich patches of plankton and fish. </FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We will be meeting at the Herring Cove Beach
Parking lot at 945 for a 10AM departure. We will return around 2
PM.</FONT></DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2></FONT> </DIV>
<DIV><FONT face=Arial size=2>We will be walking 45-60 minutes each way, on
pavement through the dunes, across the dike road, and finally on soft sand near
the lighthouse. </FONT><FONT face=Arial size=2>Please bring water,
binoculars, sunblock and if you'd like, a brown bag lunch to enjoy while we are
out there. Wear comfortable shoes and bring layers of clothes, as it can
be cooler near the water. </FONT></DIV>
