Recent Book
Join us on July 26 when author David Gessner will discuss his book,
"Soaring with Fidel: An Osprey Odyssey from Cape Cod to Cuba and
Beyond," an irreverent, absorbing, and insightful tale of one man's
adventures following the great 7,000-mile osprey migration across two
continents. A Kirkus review of the book says: "Gessner’s
account is filled with nitty-gritty details about the days
and nights of an itinerant birder and beautifully detailed descriptions
of ospreys in action. When actual observations were not possible, he
imagined what the ospreys were doing and writes intelligently of that.
In the final chapter, while summering on Cape Cod, Gessner learned that
Fidel had been tracked back to Martha’s Vineyard, and it was there that
he got to see his special bird. A grand adventure, not just for birders
and nature lovers." The author will also sign copies of his book
following the presentation. Copies will be available for purchase.
Lecture will take place at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2007, in
Redfield Auditorium, Water Street, Woods Hole. Admission is free.
