Saturday, June 23 at 10:00 am artist/naturalist Tor Hansen will present a talk
on <I>Butterfly Diversity Across Cape Cod and Nectaring Habitat</I>, followed by
a field walk at 11:00 am. $5/members. $7/non-members.<BR><BR>Mr.
Hansen’s lecture will include his reflections on Rachel Carson in the context of
butterflies, butterfly gardening, exploring natural nectaring oases, tracing
evolutionary biology, glimpses of metamorphosis, and the pollination story of
milkweed.<BR><BR>Mr. Hansen’s illustrations, photographs and naturalist
observations are a central focus of his book Butterflies Across Cape Cod: A
Guide to Finding, Attracting, and Observing Butterflies on the Cape.
Specializing in butterfly photography, he has illustrated and published articles
in <I>Massachusetts Butterflies</I> of the North American Butterfly Association.
