the amazing story of herring, a local species of fish that swims from
the ocean
into fresh water during spring. Herring are a good
indicator of stream health because they are sensitive to environmental
changes
such as increased temperature, which affects the timing of spawning. In
this
course, you will learn how to use simple data loggers to track
water
temperatures near your school. Through the generosity of the Cape Cod
Foundation, we are also able to give away <span

data loggers to 6 participants! By
studying these
local fish, your students can begin to learn about the importance of
clean air

communication skills to work as they learn and tell the herring’s
story. All topics will be linked to Massachusetts
