Falmouth's 3rd Annual Bike/Walk to Work Day will be Wednesday, May 17th (rain date on May 18th).<br><br>Falmouth will celebrate National Bike Week from May 13 through May 21, 2006, and will feature a Bike/Walk to Work Day on May 17th. People are encouraged to leave their automobiles at home and either walk or bike to work. Tables will be set up from 7 to 9 AM at three locations:
<br>(1) Peg Noonan Park, on Main St., Falmouth, <br>(2) the Trunk River Parking Lot on the Shining Sea Bikeway, and <br>(3) Fieldcrest Farm at the corner of Palmer Ave. and Sippewisset Rd<br><br>Food, drinks, and goodies will be provided to participants at each location. The number of miles biked or walked will be recorded at the tables or at
<a href="http://bike2workday.tripod.com">http://bike2workday.tripod.com</a>. Anyone who enters their commuting information is eligible for a prize drawing. A special prize drawing will be held for those who try walking or cycling to work for the first time. Employers are also urged to compete for the most participation.
<br><br>The event is organized by the Falmouth Bikeway Committee. Our goal is to demonstrate that cycling or walking to work are viable means of transport and benefit everyone by saving money, reducing air pollution, reducing traffic congestion, and enhancing personal health. In each of the past two years, Falmouth Bike/Walk to Work Day has drawn approximately 200 participants, with commuters avoiding about 2000 miles of automobile travel by walking or cycling back and forth to work.
