AGENDA</b></u>
1. Introductions of members and overview of CRC mission for guests
2. Presentation - Kim Peters (Clemson University) and Dale Leavitt (Roger Williams University)
As the managers of the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge initiate their
Comprehensive Conservation Planning (CCP) effort, Kim and Dale have been working with the Town of Chatham Coastal Resources Department to provide information to the US Fish & Wildlife Service planners for the CCP process. The issue of concern is continuing permission for commercial shellfish harvesters to dig for soft shell clams within the boundaries of the Wilderness Area. The area in question provides up to 80% of Chatham's harvested shellfish resources and can provide a direct (landed value) income to the harvesters of $3-5 million annually. The presentation will provide an overview of the research effort currently being compiled and will be followed by a discussion of points of interest identified by the committee.
