<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=arial><FONT size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"> </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">As part of this event, the Center's Sea Pocket Lab, a <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Gulf</st1:PlaceType> of <st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Maine</st1:PlaceName></st1:place> aquarium and marine exhibit, will be open to the public for free. The vessel <EM><I>Sound, </I></EM>from <st1:City w:st="on">Salem</st1:City> will be here offering free ecotours of <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Gloucester</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Harbor</st1:PlaceType></st1:place> at 10:30am, noon, 1:30pm , and 3:00pm. This event is the kickoff of an exciting partnership between GMHC and HOBBES (Hands-On Boat-Based Education and Science), which will be offering marine science field trips together in <st1:City w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Gloucester</st1:place></st1:City> for the month of October.<o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=arial><FONT size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p> </o:p></SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">There will be music throughout the day including an 11:00am performance by David Coffin and afternoon concerts by Chick and Ellen and Stomp N Go. Other Heritage Day highlights include a nautical flea market and a silent auction featuring everything from boats to barometers to kayak tours and whale watches. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=arial><FONT size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"> </SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Visitors can participate in activities ranging from helping to build a boat to driving a remote operated underwater vehicle. Craftsmen will demonstrate rope fancy work, lobster trap construction, and wooden boat repair skills. There will also be opportunities to go dory rowing (no experience necessary) on <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on"><U1:PLACE u2:st="on"><U1:PLACENAME u2:st="on">Gloucester</st1:PlaceName></U1:PLACENAME> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on"><U1:PLACETYPE u2:st="on">Harbor</st1:PlaceType></st1:place></U1:PLACETYPE></U1:PLACE> or to take a harbor tour aboard a working lobster boat. <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
<P class=MsoNormal><FONT face=arial><FONT size=2><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt"><o:p> </o:p></SPAN><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt">Additional childrens activities include toy boat building, relay races, mural painting, fish printing, plankton tows, temporary tattoos, and nautical knot tying. Kids can also observe and handle marine life in Sea Pocket Lab, the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on"><U1:PLACE u2:st="on"><U1:PLACENAME u2:st="on">Heritage</st1:PlaceName></U1:PLACENAME> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on"><U1:PLACETYPE u2:st="on">Center</st1:PlaceType></st1:place></U1:PLACETYPE></U1:PLACE>s aquarium, which will be open without charge for the day along with the Dive Exhibit. Seafood, hotdogs, hamburgers, coffee, muffins and other refreshments will be available throughout the day. . <o:p></o:p></SPAN></FONT></FONT></P>
