Through slides and discussion, Mr. O’Connell will discuss shoreline
processes, shoreline change and the beneficial functions of coastal landforms
as well as how humans affect the coastline. He’ll bring along floodplain
maps and the new shoreline change maps which show actual changes over time.
He’ll discuss erosion control alternatives and address the questions,
“What does the law have to say about what people can and can not do with
their waterfront property? Is there really any way to stop erosion?” </p>
