              Oceanography Department, of the Ensenada Center for

              in Ensenada,<br class="">
              Mexico. The position is part of the project “Understanding
              and<br class="">
              Predicting the Gulf of Mexico Loop Current, Topic 8:
              Numerical<br class="">
              Modeling”, funded by the National Academy of Sciences
              (NAS). The<br class="">
              objective of this post-doc is to contribute developing and
              applying an<br class="">
              oceanic reanalysis and operational system for the Gulf of
              Mexico based<br class="">
              on the 4d-VAR ROMS modeling system and evaluate the impact
              of different<br class="">
              observations on the predictability of the Loop Current
              ocean estate. The<br class="">
              research group includes several institutions across Mexico
              and the USA:<br class="">
              CICESE, North Carolina State University, Florida State
              University,<br class="">
              Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of Rhode
              Island, and the<br class="">
              Navy Research Lab, as well as overseas collaborators.<br
                class="">
              <br class="">
              The minimum qualifications for a successful application
              must include:<br class="">
              <br class="">
              - A PhD and documented research experience in physical
              oceanography or<br class="">
              related field;<br class="">
              <br class="">
              - Expertise with hydrodynamic numerical models (preferably
              ROMS);<br class="">
              <br class="">
              - Experience in Data Assimilation techniques;<br class="">
              <br class="">
              - Programming abilities, including proficiency in Fortran,
              Matlab or<br class="">
              Python, and NetCDF, as well as experience working in a
              Linux environment;<br class="">
              <br class="">
              - Scientific writing skills in English<br class="">
              <br class="">
