Description: EarthEcho is seeking a self-directed
employee to manage all aspects of its EarthEcho
Expeditions program. One of the organization's
signature programs, EarthEcho Expeditions is an annual
program that leverages the rich Cousteau legacy of
exploration and discovery to bring STEM education
content alive for today's 21st century learners and
their educators. Each EarthEcho Expedition begins with
a week-long exploration of a geographic area facing an
environmental crisis, examining the impacts that
humans have on our global coastal regions
and oceans. In conjunction with local partners and an
annual cohort of 25 educators, we film and produce an
education module for each Expedition that combines
vibrant exploration videos, environmental audits,
examples of environmental actions championed by youth,
profiles of STEM professionals, and live virtual
events as the tools necessary for educators to engage
youth with content that educates and inspires action
around each Expedition topic, and makes Science,
Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) come
alive in a blended learning environment. Over the next
four years, EarthEcho Expeditions is slated to explore
the topics of water management and scarcity in
Southern California in 2017; the effects of coastal
development and human pollution on marine ecosystems
and specifically the Great Barrier Reef in Australia
in 2018; fisheries management in Japan in 2019; and an
as yet undefined topic in Saudi Arabia/UAE in 2020.
