                Animal &amp; Veterinary Science is seeking a temporary
                licensed captain to operate the R/V Cap'n Bert (53' LOA)
                for a weekly scientific fish trawl. The vessel has an
                exemption to carry passengers and is classified as a 46
                CFR Chapter I, Subchapter T (small passenger vessel
                under 100 gross tons). It is preferred that the
                candidate have knowledge of operating fisheries sampling
                equipment. The candidate should also have basic
                familiarity with the machinery, hull and equipment of
                fiberglass vessels ranging in size from 13 to 60 feet
                with outboard or inboard diesel power and hydraulic and
                electric auxiliary systems. Basic knowledge of
                maintenance and repair of these systems is preferred.
                The following are mandatory requirements that each
                candidate must possess in order to be considered for the
                position. · Each candidate must possess a United States
                Coast Guard Master Near Coastal 110 Gross Ton license in
                good standing. · Each candidate must possess a
                Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC")
                in good standing. Each candidate must be willing to
                submit to a pre-employment drug test as required by the
                United States Coast Guard. Upon hiring, the candidate
                will be enrolled in a recognized drug testing program
                and must be prepared to must submit to random drug
                testing as a condition of his or her employment with the
                University of Rhode Island Each candidate must submit to

                The Project Support Liaison, Thriving Earth Exchange
                (TEX) position is key in assisting AGU to promote
                discovery in Earth and Space science for the benefit of
                humanity, by being operational in focus. The incumbent
                will lead the development of several TEX community
                science projects and help develop tools and services
                that will allow people to develop and complete TEX
                community science projects more independently. The
                Liaison will meet with community leaders to understand
                their priorities and help them design TEX projects that
                use Earth and Space Science (ESS) to address community
                priorities. The incumbent will recruit and select
                scientists, especially AGU members, to work on TEX
                projects; help scientists and community leaders form
                effective teams; and guide teams to develop impactful
                solutions. In addition, the incumbent will analyze the
                experience of working with TEX projects and use their
                analysis to design, test, and refine strategies for
                supporting TEX projects more efficiently or with less
                input from TEX staff.</li>

                  collection and lab processing techniques. Seasonal
                  positions are limited in duration and pay $11 - $13/hr
                  (M-F, 35hrs/wk) based on relevant experience. The
                  selected candidate will be available to start in
                  April/May and work into October/November. Since this
                  position is temporary, there would be no health
                  benefits. The position is based out of DEEP Marine
                  Headquarters in Old Lyme, CT, and employees would be
                  expected to drive to Old Lyme each workday.
