Ocean Policy Internship</div>

<li>Description: The policy internship is designed to
further professional development for current or recently
graduated students by working with Ocean Leadership's
Public Affairs staff. Each intern will learn about the
federal legislative process and become more familiar
with current ocean policy related issues. The intern is
responsible for monitoring, analyzing and reporting on
relevant bills and legislative hearings, contributing to
the advocacy section of the weekly newsletter and
website, developing information for congressional
members and committees, attending hearings on behalf of
Ocean Leadership, maintaining sections of the Ocean
Leadership website, and pursuing other items on Ocean
Leadership's policy agenda. Interns may also have the
opportunity to work on projects with other Ocean
Leadership departments and a variety of educational
initiatives.Preference is given to students in good
standing at an Ocean Leadership member institution,
therefore it is recommended that interested students
seek out support for their application from their
university's Ocean Leadership representative via a
sponsorship letter. Interested applicants should provide

the international policy arena including working with the UN
is strongly preferred, as well as an in-depth understanding of
multilateral processes. This role also requires a minimum of
two years of experience directly managing full time staff to
include hiring, performance reviews, coaching, and goal
setting. A Bachelor's degree is also required. This role is
based in Washington DC and will develop and lead the
implementation of a global campaign to advance a new
international legal instrument enabling the establishment of
marine protected areas and reserves on the high seas.</span></li>
