Ocean Health Index (OHI) assessment for the Hawaiian

program. The Science Advisor's primary task is to
work with various stakeholders and partners to
develop a strategic plan for the Hawai'i OHI, gather
and analyze data, calculate the index, and produce
several products to communicate the findings
(including a brief for decision-makers, a scientific
publication and technical report). The Hawai'i OHI
will be undertaken as part of the NOAA Fisheries
Kona coast Integrated Ecosystem Assessment project
(Kona IEA), an initiative to inform ecosystem-based
management in the W. Hawai'i region (<a shape="rect">http://www.pifsc.noaa.gov/<wbr>kona_iea/</a>)
and the Hawai'i Green Growth initiative (HGG) (<a
shape="rect"><a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="http://hawaiigreengrowth.org/">http://hawaiigreengrowth.org/</a></a><wbr>),
a multi-sector partnership of leaders from private
and public entities that was formed in 2011 to
develop Hawai'i's green economy and to implement
the Aloha+ Challenge, a joint leadership commitment
to sustainability for the State of Hawai'i.
Additionally, the Science Advisor may be called on
to support other research, science, and program
needs for CI Hawaii, including (but not limited to)
supported <span>community</span>-based conservation
work through site-based assessments of resource
status and use, together with local partners and <span>communities</span>.</span></li>

Education Coordinator will lead family and adult
groups of all ages and teach a diverse array of topics
that highlight the dynamic ecosystems of a barrier
island. Adult and Family activities are varied and may
include marine education, kayaking and canoeing trips,
cycling tours, nature hikes, photography, adult craft
programs (basketry, kayak building, flint knapping,
etc.), home school programs, historical tours, boat
trips, campfires, science labs, skit nights, marine
organism collection, water testing and sampling,
island tours, etc. This position also includes a large
amount of indoor administrative tasks particularly at
certain points during the season. The AAFEC will also
achieve valuable supervisory experience as they help
to manage our summer high school intern and volunteer
programs. This position reports to the Adult and
Family Education Coordinator.</span></li>
