<li>Description: NMSF supports research, monitoring,
restoration, education, and outreach efforts within
our national marine sanctuaries which are critical for
the health of our ocean, coasts, and Great Lakes.
Tasks associated with fulfilling these goals are
likely to include developing and supporting
conservation projects by coordinating with staff and
partners, producing reports and project summaries
featuring key outcomes, fostering partnerships and
leveraging additional funds and resources, and working
with NMSF management to engage the Department of
Justice and its Assistant U.S. Attorneys. This
internship is unpaid but we do offer academic credit.</li>

member of the senior management team, the CFO
participates in the development and implementation
of the organization's strategic planning, and
oversees the organization's financial operations.
This includes oversight of all financial
transactions and the monthly accounting cycle in
accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles (GAAP) and other accepted policies, as
well as oversight of policy development relating to
the organization's financial operations. It further
includes coordination of financial matters with
other departments and programs of the organization,
as well as sanctuary-related, site-based programs.
The CFO supervises the staff of the finance
department, within limits of the budget, in such a
way that all departmental responsibilities are
handled effectively and professionally. With the
President and CEO, the CFO serves as primary liaison
with the Board of Trustees, and works closely with
the Finance and Audit Committees. </span></li>
