Appropriate documentation outlining these methods will
be provided to the consultant prior to their arrival
in Madagascar; Assistance with the establishment of
surface elevation tables and soil accretion markers,
with the aim of measuring sediment accretion and
erosion dynamics in the project area. General advice
regarding the effectiveness of these techniques and
whether there are other options more suited to our
project area; Advice on the most appropriate field
methods for the estimation of loss of SOC following
felling, with a focus on balancing time and accuracy
requirements; Assessment of project's current science
data and whether any further information can be
extracted from these, with a particular focus on our
soil analysis results and the estimation of loss of
SOC following deforestation; Review of the equipment
and procedures in our soil analysis laboratory at the
University of Antananarivo. We have been using the
Loss on Ignition method, calibrated with CHN results
from Bangor University, for estimating SOC content in
our soil samples; General advice regarding possible
baseline and MRV requirements associated with the
planned VCS CIW methodologies. </span></li>
