The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS)
seeks a marine conservation and fisheries
professional to support the leadership of our
global marine conservation effort. WCS invests in
marine conservation across the waters of 24
countries and all five oceans. Our ocean
conservation strategy is designed to boost
populations of globally threatened marine species,
reverse the decline of fragile marine ecosystems,
and improve the livelihoods and fisheries of
coastal communities. Several hundred WCS marine
conservationists work across the globe in
partnership with local and national governments,
partner organizations, and local communities to
scale conservation results. Core to our strategy
is to support improved management of small-scale
coastal fisheries, expand and strengthen
enforcement of networks of no-take marine reserves
for critical habitat of threatened species and
fisheries, and a core investment in research,
innovative protection and policy changes for the
conservation of sharks and rays, marine mammals
and coral reefs. We inspire millions to take
action for the oceans through the New York
Aquarium and all our parks in New York City
through increased public understanding, scientific
knowledge and political commitment to the world's
ocean oceans.

a team of researchers investigating how ecosystem
remediation and habitat restoration affect ecosystem
benefits and the implications for human well-being.
This work takes place in the Great Lakes basin (e.g.,
watershed, coastal zone, and port and shoreline
communities) at spatial scales ranging from local to
regional. Regulatory and management efforts to which
this work relates include Area of Concern delisting,
community revitalization, and the Great Lakes
Restoration Initiative. Broader EPA interests to which
this work relates include watershed stressors (e.g.,
nutrients, sediments), legacy and emerging chemical
contaminants, and impacts of climate change including
adaptation and mitigation strategies. Work the
candidate might be involved with includes developing
metrics of social and economic impact resulting from
environmental improvements, and developing tools and
indicators to help managers compare social and
economic outcomes from alternative restoration
actions.
