                          consequent effects on mixing, mixed-layer
                          depth and air-sea exchange of heat. Coupling
                          the light model to primary-production models

                          explore ways in which ocean-colour data can be
                          used to improve marine ecosystem models in the
                          context of climate change and of perturbations
                          in forcing fields (e.g., volcanic eruptions,
                          inter-annual oscillations, extreme events),
                          and to explore the use of ocean-colour data to
                          assess the skill in ecosystem models. Some
                          experience in working with marine
                          biogeochemical models and models of light
                          field underwater is desirable as is an
                          interest in coupled
                          biogeochemical-physical-optical processes and
                          air-sea exchanges of energy and materials
                          (e.g., carbon, DMS).</span></font></span></font></div>
