                    The IUCN Regional Marine and Coastal Programme
                    Coordinator reports directly to the Regional
                    Programme Coordinator for West and Central Africa,
                    and functionally to the Head of IUCN’s Global Marine
                    Programme. He/she will serve as both a senior member
                    of the Regional Programme committee that delivers
                    the technical programme of IUCN in Central and West
                    Africa and the IUCN global Marine Programme team
                    that helps set strategic direction and define
                    priorities for IUCN’s broader engagement on Marine
                    and Coastal issues.<br>

                    The MACO Coordinator will develop, resource, and
                    manage IUCN’s Marine programme activities in the
                    region in close collaboration with other relevant
                    IUCN programmes, Members, Commissions and partners.
                    He/she will be responsible for the overall

                    are coherent and consistent with IUCN’s “one
                    programme” approach, build on and align with IUCN’s

                    is the marine laboratory for Highline Community
                    College and is used for Highline and community

                    located in Redondo which is about 10 minutes south
                    of the main campus and is halfway between Seattle
                    and Tacoma. The facility has approximately 3,000
                    gallons of flow-through aquariums and houses over
                    100 species of marine life from the Puget Sound. The
                    MaST Center is open every Saturday to the public
                    during its Water Weekends and hosts over 10,000
                    visitors annually. Weekend programs also include the
                    Science on the Sound, a once a month speaker series
                    and the Live Dive program where divers using a video
                    camera and two-way communication take the public on
                    an underwater tour of the Redondo dive site which is
                    home to lots of animals and is a reserve for Giant
                    Pacific Octopus. During the rest of the week, the
                    MaST Center is used for Highline classes, school
                    groups, and other activities. The MaST’s Marine
                    Mammal Stranding Team works actively to protect
                    marine mammals that have stranded on local beaches.</span></p>
