advice and support to The Nature Conservancy’s program in
the Papuan Bird’s Head Seascape. S/he provides strategic and
technical leadership and support in conservation planning
and guides the overall conservation priorities for the
seascape and initiatives being implemented by the
Conservancy and its partners. S/he develops innovative
methods, analyses, tools, and frameworks to address
sustainable marine resource use and management, in
particular, focusing on good governance, institutional
capacity building and sustainable financing. S/he will focus
on developing and guiding the implementation of the
Conservancy’s transition strategy, to ensure site based
programs are effectively managed by the local government,
communities and other relevant partners. S/he will assist in

building technical capacity in the field and mentoring local

the development of responsible marine resource management
practices. Because cetaceans migrate over large ranges that
cross political boundaries, are subject to world-wide
tourism and spatially overlap with human industrial and
recreational activities, much of this program's emphasis is
international. Conservation practices and habitat
requirements are multinational issues. Part of this program
may involve the development and application of new
equipment, techniques, experimental designs and analytical

located at Hatfield Marine Science Center (HMSC), with an

<p>The incumbent is responsible for providing oversight and
staff support services for the Atlantic States Marine
Fisheries Commission’s (Commission) fishery management
planning activities. The ISFMP is a cooperative effort among
the 15 Atlantic coast states to mutually plan for effective
conservation and management of valuable Atlantic coastal
fisheries. Under the terms of the Atlantic Coastal Fisheries
Cooperative Management Act, the Commission works
cooperatively through its state members, federal agencies
and others to develop and approve fishery management plans
(FMP), which the states are then required by the federal law
to implement and enforce. Responsibilities include, but are
not limited to: providing, using available staff resources,
full staff support to management boards operating under the
Commission’s ISFMP Charter; managing the process for
developing, approving, monitoring and implementing fishery
management plans in a manner that it timely and efficient
and that meets overall program goals; ensure the development
and utilization of documentation for ISFMP actions that
maximizes the opportunity for management boards to make
timely and effective decisions; providing full staff support
to ISFMP Policy Board; administering the programmatic
aspects of grants that fund the ISFMP, including preparation
of work statements, estimates of resources needed,
monitoring project schedules and deliverables and preparing
reports for granting agencies, and representing the
Commission and the ISFMP at various outside meetings to
promote the cooperative interstate conservation and

POSITION SUMMARY:<br>
To support our social marketing initiatives in Hawaii and
the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands, SeaWeb is

The Program Associate should work well in team settings, but
also be able to work independently when necessary.<br>

This position is ideal for a strong communicator who excels
at strategic planning, problem solving and partnership
building and who has a passion for conserving marine
ecosystems and supporting the coastal communities that
depend on them. This position requires someone with
communications, public relations, marketing or campaign
experience. Some experience in marine conservation and
engaging Pacific Island communities is preferred.<br>

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: <br>
? Support Asia Pacific Program staff in designing and
