Guidelines</title></head><body>
<div>Dear Beatriz,</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Do not take me wrong: I am not against to have guidelines for the
proceedings.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>But the way to "tell the organizers of a meeting for which
they will be working like mads to put together" and who and not
should be in the committee and who should be the editors, I am very
much against. It is the "wording" in the document that
sounds "dictatorial", and could be written in a more polite
way.</div>
<div><br></div>
<div>Best regards,</div>
<div><br></div>

would be great to have a common format so future organizers do not
need to break their heads each time. The present one is almost
identical to the format used in the IOC sponsored proceedings in the
past (Sendai, Vigo, Tasmania), and most recently Florida and
Copenhaguen.</font></blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font size="-1" color="#0000FF">3. The
present guidelines were prepared by the previous ISSHA Publications
Committee. I agree with you it would have been better if they had been
circulated before to the rest of the Council. We will take this into
account to avoid this in the future.</font></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite> </blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><font size="-1" color="#0000FF">4. I
think it was helpful to have some guidelines available by the end of
the conference. Otherwise, there would not have been a guide on how to
proceed for peple who wanted to submit their papers. Both, Pat
and I were worried to make sure this reached everybody. Then, the
announcement (and the deadlines) were loaded at the ISSHA website (as
soon as Karin started to use the web herself), and the convenors from
Hong Kong hanged it on the Conference website. I suggested to Ginnie
and K.C.Ho to send a circular (with the dealine) to all conference
participants, but they preferred to do everything through their
web.</font></blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite><font size="-1" color="#0000FF">5. The
new Publication Committee at ISSHA will be informed of all these
previous debates, successes and mistakes, and can plan for a long term
strategy. And as far as Nina, Karin and I are concerned, we have
already dedicated a good lot of our time in the last month to analyze
ISSHA, its websites and future priorities to make it more
participative (and active in between conferences).</font></blockquote>

<blockquote type="cite" cite>Hi,</blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><br></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite>I was at the ISSHA homepage some minutes
ago, and just saw that the "guidelines "send by Judy (see
message below) as I understood, was for us to comments on,
have been already placed on the homepage.</blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite><br></blockquote>
<blockquote type="cite" cite>I am appalled : how can this be possible
without us discussing if we thought that the document was good as it
was to be placed on the net?. I had been writing my comments, which I
am attaching to these e-mail. And I wrote them
without having in mind there was a<b> Deadline</b> (I cannot find this
deadline on Judys e-mail below). Anyway, hope you give some though on
what I wrote as it is less and less looking to me that ISSHA is
behaving in a democratic way towards it´s membership.</blockquote>
