<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">I have recently been employed
to work with David Montagnes for 10 months, to develop a free,
internet based, user friendly guide to harmful phytoplankton.
You probably already know about it. The website (</font><a
href="http://www.liv.ac.uk/hab/intro"><font face="Arial"
color="#000000">www.liv.ac.uk/hab/intro</font></a><font face="Arial"
color="#000000">) allows easy identification of phytoplankton.
It includes descriptions, environmental, and toxicity data, as
well as practical information on sampling, storing and counting
phytoplankton. Our last estimates indicate that the guide
receives over 4000 hits per week from users all over the world.
However the guide is far from finished. </font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000"><br></font></div>
<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">One of the main objectives
over the following 10 months is to update and develop the website,
increasing its accuracy and detail. We plan to add more features
and descriptions to the species data sheets; for example, key
Lugol's features for identification purposes. To achieve this
objective the datasheets need to be critically assessed and examined
by experts (neither David nor I claim to be experts in this
field).</font></div>

<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000">As you undoubtedly know, funds
to develop this kind of resource are few, and we rely on the help of
others to produce a good product.</font></div>

<div><font face="Arial" color="#000000"><b>It would be very helpful to
us (and hopefully to the HAB community) if you could access the
website, choose one or more species, and analyse the sheet for
incorrect or insufficient information. If you have additions, we
would be most appreciative. It would be beneficial if you could
advise me on any areas that could be improved. </b></font></div>
