<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Teaching</span></b><br>
Teaching will be via the internet on a user-friendly course platform (10 April
- 12 June) followed by a 6-day practical course in Copenhagen (29 July - 3
August). Expenses must be covered by the participants. Nordic students may
apply for financial support from Nordic School of Phycology (contact Henrik
Enevoldsen at <a href="mailto:henrike@bi.ku.dk"><font color=black><span
style='color:black'>henrike@bi.ku.dk</span></font></a>).<br>
<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Aim</span></b><br>
The course will theoretically and practically deal with the morphology,
systematics, biology, and ecology of harmful marine phytoplankton. During the
course students will be introduced to species identification, methods for
working with phytoplankton organisms and toxicity. Students will primarily work
with light microscopy, but will also be introduced to electron microscopy, DNA
techniques and HPLC.<br>
<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Contents</span></b><br>
Identification, isolation, nutrition, growth media, life cycles, phylogeny and
toxicity of marine plankton. <br>
<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Books</span></b><br>
Articles will be handed out electronically. We also recommend C. Tomas (ed.):
Identifying Mariane Diatoms and Dinoflagellates.<br>
<br>
<b><span style='font-weight:bold'>Examination</span></b><br>
Approval of exercises and completion of e-learning and practical course.<br>
