<p>Hi, Data Mongers, bioinformatics, and software folks,</p>
<p>Dr. C. Titus Brown will be giving the Bio. Dept. seminar this
Thursday, July 7, noon, at Redfield Auditorium:</p>
<p>"Effectively infinite: how can we ask questions of environmental
sequencing data sets?"</p>
<p>Titus is one of the Moore Foundation's Data Driven Discovery
(DDD) Investigators (<a
href="https://www.moore.org/investigator-detail?investigatorId=brown-phd">link</a>).
He leads the Laboratory of Data Intensive Biology at UC Davis. He
is also described as an "<a
href="http://simplystatistics.org/2012/08/17/interview-with-c-titus-brown-computational-biologist/">open
access champion</a>".</p>
<p>Titus also leads a number of <a
href="http://ivory.idyll.org/blog/category/teaching.html">educational
initiatives</a> (e.g., recent workshop on "computational
reproducibility"). He is in Woods Hole this summer at MBL.</p>
